What to look at when choosing one

The properties the compatibility engine reads for this kind of part are control link protocol, control link band, receiver output protocol, antenna connector and control bands supported, so those are the ones that decide what the rest of a build can be. Everything else is preference.
The link from your hands to the aircraft is two separate agreements: the RF protocol between radio and receiver, and the serial protocol between receiver and flight controller. Confusing them is the most common source of "it should work and it does not".
